What's new in VIKTOR (February 2025)

by VIKTOR Team

This February, we’re introducing several new features: the ability to skip the dashboard and jump straight to the root entity in a workspace, secure handling of sensitive app variables with the new secret app variables feature, and manually adjustable column widths in data grids for improved usability. This month’s community spotlight highlights the Reinforced Concrete Cross Section App by strukturel. Keep reading to discover all the updates!

Skipping Dashboard

To facilitate navigation, users no longer have to land on the dashboard by default when opening a workspace. Developers can now configure the landing page, allowing users to go directly to a specific entity—reducing extra clicks and improving workflow efficiency.

Secret App Variables

For enhanced security, you can now mark app variables as secret. Once marked, these variables cannot be viewed or modified after creation—only deleted. This ensures that sensitive information, such as API keys, remains protected and reduces the risk of accidental exposure.

Adjustable Data Grid Columns

Users can now manually adjust column widths in TableView, making it easier to view content without being cut off. This feature is enabled by default, allowing for a more flexible and user-friendly experience when working with large or detailed datasets.

Community Spotlight

This month’s App Spotlight features the Reinforced Concrete Cross-Section App, a user-friendly tool that lets you define and analyze concrete cross-sections—no Python knowledge required. Developed by Strukturel, the app leverages the structuralcodes Python library to perform reinforced concrete calculations easily.
