What's new in VIKTOR (June 2024)

by VIKTOR Team

The time has come for June's platform update. This month, we want to update you on the following topics: interactive geometry selection, additions and updates in VIKTOR Labs, a prototype Revit plugin, and the first "Quarterly Platform Updates Webinar" In this edition's community spotlight, we have the RA2CE application by Matthias Hauth. Does this sound interesting? Keep reading for more information on this month's changes.

Interactive geometry selection

You can now select part(s) of a 3D geometry model using the GeometrySelectField or GeometryMultiSelectField. This makes it very easy for users to select geometry items for further actions. For example, this can be used for placing structural elements, applying loads, or adding extra data to the geometry in an intuitive way.

Find out how you can implement geometry selection in your app in the documentation.

Additions and updates in VIKTOR Labs

Updates to Visual Builder

Last month, we introduced the Visual Builder in the VIKTOR Labs. This is a tool that you can use to easily click together your desired UI elements to generate code for your app. We have now updated the Visual Builder to remember the state of your project when exiting and re-entering.

Hacktor and Excel Converter

We have added two more experimental tools to VIKTOR Labs!

  1. Hacktor: an AzureAI-powered coding assistant to help you build VIKTOR apps.

  2. Excel Converter: you can use this app to turn your Excel sheets into code for a VIKTOR app in just 4 steps.

What is VIKTOR Labs?

VIKTOR Labs is the part of your environment where we showcase our experimental features to improve your developer experience. Make sure to give it a try and share your thoughts through the feedback form or on the Community Forum so we can keep improving these features!

Prototype Revit plugin

We have been working on a Revit plugin that allows you to automate exporting and uploading from Revit to VIKTOR. This means modellers can keep working within Revit and still connect to the workflow of the VIKTOR app.

Note that this is still a prototype. If you are interested in trying it out, you can contact our Product Manager Matthijs at mbeekman@viktor.ai.

Webinar: Quarterly Platform Updates

During June 4th's first "Quarterly Platform Updates webinar", Stijn and Anande highlighted (and teased!) some of the most interesting platform features of 2024.

It was great to see so many questions from the community. We highly recommend joining next time if you're curious to learn more about product features in an interactive way!

In case you missed it, you can still watch the recording on LinkedIn.

Community spotlight

This month in the community spotlight, we have Matthias Hauth and his application called RA2CE: a powerful tool that quantifies the resilience of infrastructure networks. You can use the application to prioritize interventions and adaptation measures, selecting the most appropriate actions to enhance resilience in the face of future conditions.

Would you like to share your application with the rest of the community as well? Please let us know by sending an email to support@viktor.ai!
